Operation Open Arms has been supporting families through the adoption process for over twenty years.

 

Our staff includes birth mothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers, and biological mothers—each bringing compassion, experience, and a deep commitment to helping you understand your options and choose what is best for you and your child.

 

We also offer a Kids Clothes Closet, providing furniture, baby equipment, and clothing for newborns and toddlers up to the age of 5.

 

For privacy, potential adoptive families are not posted online. However, we can securely share family profiles with you electronically or meet with you in person to review them together. We understand how important it is for you to feel confident in choosing your child’s potential forever family.

 

We also provide access to resources and financial assistance.

Here is what you need to know about

the Adoption Process

Considering adoption can be a complicated emotional process. Others know what they want and need support on how to obtain their goal. Regardless of where you are we aim to support you through the process. Here are eight steps we will navigate with you to develop your plan and meet your needs. Consider talking to us to learn more.

  • Inquiry about services – Please fill out an on-line inquiry or call us and we are happy to talk with you!

  • Talk with an EXPERIENCED person - Talk or meet with staff or a parent who previously placed to answer questions and explore possible opportunities.

  • Paperwork - Should you decide to consider placing documentation will be required and a consultation with an attorney to ensure you understand your legal rights.

  • Matching – Matching is selecting a family that meets your needs, meeting the family, and deciding if you want to develop an adoption plan with this family.

  • Adoption Plan – Your case manage will work with you on your adoption plan including pre-birth, birth, post-birth, and post-adoption with regards to communication and expectations.

  • The birth process and support – Your case manager will be there to lend support and guidance through the birth process.

  • Placement and support - Your case manager will be there to lend support and guidance through the placement process.

  • Adoption and post-adoption support - Your case manager will be there to lend support and guidance through the legal and post-adoption process.
