The Jefferson County Foster Care Summit offers a unique opportunity for community members, foster parents, and professionals to come together and learn how to make a difference in these children's lives. This year’s event takes place on May 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 982 Easter Parkway. Why Attend the Jefferson County Foster Care Summit?


The foster care system plays a critical role in serving children. There are over 8,700 children in out of home placements in Kentucky alone. Many people want to get involved and help. Yet, they do not know where to start.


The Foster Care Summit is an effort to help our community learn about seven foster care agencies and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services; the opportunity to talk to representatives from each; hear from foster families; and hear from lived experiences.


Whether you want to foster or learn more about the system so that you can help bridge the gap for others - we invite you to join us at the summit on May 16th.

The event runs for four hours, packed with valuable content and activities designed to engage attendees:


  • Breakfast and the opportunity to talk with each agency

  • Opening remarks from the Jefferson County Foster Care Recruitment Collaborative

  • Agency Presentations covering a brief overview from each agency

  • DCBS Presentation

  • Aetna Presentation

  • Panel discussions featuring experienced foster parents and youth who have been in care sharing their stories

  • Resource booths where attendees can learn about community programs and opportunities to get involved
